School of Contemporary Chinese Studies
PhD Research Scholarship Deadlines

The School of Contemporary Chinese Studies (SCCS) at the University of
Nottingham is the UK's second largest teaching and research centre focused
on contemporary China. The Doctorate programme allows students to conduct
in-depth research on a broad range of social sciences and business-related
subjects as well as topics covering china policy through the School's China
Policy Institute. We currently have the following PhD scholarships
opportunities:

School Scholarship for doctoral research
This award would cover full tuition fees and a maintenance grant of
approximately £13,863 each year for a maximum of three years of full-time
doctoral study (subject to evidence of satisfactory progress). The stipend
for International students will be lower (£6,500 approx.) due to the higher
tuition fee. Excellent applications in any area of Chinese Studies that can
be supervised by the School's academic staff are welcomed. The closing
date is 16th May 2014 and further information on this scholarship is
available on the School's webpages.

Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for Research Excellence (European Union)
30 x full EU tuition fee and £8,400 per year bursaries towards living
expenses for EU students across all faculties. You can apply for this
scholarship if you:
* are classed as a European Union (non UK) student for fee purposes
AND
* already hold an offer to start a full-time research degree
programme, PhD or MPhil, at Nottingham in September or October 2014, any
subject area.

Application for admission to study at Nottingham must be received at least
six weeks before the scholarship closing date to allow time for our
Admissions office to process the application and confirm your offer, before
you can apply for the scholarship. Any application for admission to study
submitted later than six weeks before the scholarship closing date is not
guaranteed to be processed in time. Further information is available from
the International Office website. The closing date for applications is 9th
May 2014.
