PhD Studentship

School of English at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus is offering a fees-only PhD studentship in Malaysian literature, commencing in September 2014

The fulltime studentship is for three years, subject to satisfactory progress, and is open to both Malaysian and international students. The bursary will cover the full cost of tuition fees and is dependent on the delivery of a university-wide Malaysian literature unit, for which the candidate will receive additional payment. This award will not cover maintenance costs.

The studentship falls under the School of English in association with the Centre for Southeast Asian Writing (CSAW). UNMC is part of the University of Nottingham, and offers unique teaching and research opportunities in a highly dynamic context. The School of English was founded in 2013, and is developing a range of BA and MA programmes in the areas of applied linguistics, stylistics, discourse studies, world Englishes, modern literary studies and creative writing. CSAW aims to promote creative writing and academic scholarship in the field of Southeast Asian studies, and hosts a regular series of events.

Applications are invited from candidates with an MA and/or a good BA (Hons) degree in literary studies. Applicants must submit a detailed research proposal, a CV and a covering letter.
