WELCOME TO EAP CLUB

EAP  in this virtual club will be advised and monitored by me . Called me Madame Dessy. I have studied, worked and lived in the UK for 10 years prior to my new settlement in the Netherlands. I have been teaching, publishing, and using English in my daily routine as an academic, a business woman, and scientific writer in my consulting company: EduPRIME. Despite my long-term and continued help to PPI Europe and International, I am currently  the President of I4-Ikatan Ilmuwan Indonesia International. I am currently living in the Netherlands with my Dutch academic husband, Dr. Roel Rutten.

EAP in this context will be divided into 4  domains,

1. Writing: this is the big portion where I will be dealing with. Writing topics will include writing for academic purpose (research proposal, scientific paper for a conference, journal, personal statement for an academic purpose, and lots of exercise on how to improve your academic writing)

2. Listening: in this case, listening is used as an active listening. How can you absorb and comprehend the information in English? and furthermore how can you respond and react on it?. Active listening is an essential skill to be mastered in using academic english.

3. Speaking: This activity will be dealing much more on focussed and meaningful speaking in academic events/contexts. Such as a debate, seminar, conference, and others. This is more than just a daily conversation with your buddies. This will be used to address and to express your ideas in more formal forum.

4. Reading: How good your reading skill in obtaining english material for formal and academic context? Bear in mind, lots of English materials are being used in science and knowledge. How much and how deep is your reading skill?

All of these steps will be covered HERE.

best wishes and see you soon
